The yellow color of the macula results from the deposition of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which act as antioxidants against UV-induced oxidative stress. Ophta PLUS supplies these important carotenoids, which the body cannot produce itself.
Ophta PLUS promises quality through the use of natural carotenoids such as lutein and zeaxanthin from marigolds, the use of bioavailable zinc bisglycinate and activated folic acid (quatrefolic) as well as the naturally occurring form of vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin). It is vegan, lactose and gluten free and does not contain any genetic engineering. The product is made in Germany.
