Oncotrition

We consume thousands of bioactive molecules every day with our food. Oncotrition was founded with the aim of deciphering this complex network of interactions in order to maximize the benefits of nutrition.

Backed by science

In evidence-based medicine, therapeutic, diagnostic and preventive measures must be supported by empirical data. With its origins in basic biomedical research, Oncotrition therefore focuses on herbal active ingredients and substances with a broad scientific basis.

Backed by nature

Biomedical research should be conducted with the aim of understanding the underlying processes of illness and health in their entirety - with the knowledge that this goal will never be achieved. The complexity of the interaction between humans and their food is too great to be experienced under controlled laboratory conditions. Therefore, traditional healing methods and empirical medicine are included in the evaluation of active ingredients and ingredients in addition to analytical methods.

The founders of Oncotrition

Originally a team of former employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Immunology and Cell Therapy (IZI), we no longer conduct active research.

Instead, we have made it our mission to create this website to share our knowledge publicly with the general public.

History of Oncotrition

Oncotrition was founded in the 2000s by Dr. Andreas Schubert and Christopher Oelkrug of the Fraunhofer Institute for Immunology and Cell Therapy (IZI) in Leipzig. They quickly identified common areas of focus with colleagues and gained additional team members. In 2012, it was decided to spin off from the institute in order to devote themselves entirely to the identification of functional foods.
